Thank you for the wonderful site! NC was in three of the most formative films of my teenage years: Excalibur, LCL, and Evil Under the Sun. He defined leading man!

The Best Knight In The World.

I was only 13 when I first saw Excalibur and it had an everlasting effect on me. The Armoury, weaponry, and the fantasy. Lancelot shined like a true champion that he was. Nicholas Clay was the true Lancelot. Forever in our hearts.

What a lovely surprise to find that someone has made a website about one very underrated and sadly missed actor. It's beautifully designed too, well done!

Having not been in London for several years, I am back for a brief visit and thinking about the lovely times I had here whilst filming "Last Days of Pompeii". I had the very good fortune to work opposite Nick on the shoot. He left a lasting impression both as a kind person, wise beyond his years and as a beautiful talent. There was a particular take he did, close up on Nick... I can't recall at all what the scene was about but I do remember thinking how remarkable, special and truthful an essence he had poured out for the lens to capture. I felt priveleged then to witness it and feel priveleged now to hold it in memory.
I remember too how much, how very much he loved his beautiful Lorna.
Though I'm sure his journey continued with grace, I'm sad that wonderful man left so soon.

Thanks for this website !I have become engrossed with Nick Clay's work and have been entertaining and studying him at the came time. I was impressed by his portryal of Tristan in Lovespell [the most redeeming quality of the movie for me]. Since then I have getting myself aquianted with the actor who so suspiciously looks so familiar yet fresh; gorgeous and timeless; reflective but alert; deep yet open; strong but vulnerable. I wish I had a way to tell his family I might not have known him but his memory lives on and that they can be proud of him. I wish I would have seen him on stage . He seems a powerful talent, engaging as he is stunning!

Ah! Peter said it well -- Nick truly was the best Knight in the world. I, too, decided to check up on the cast from one of my favorite movies, only to discover Nick's untimely passing. He was a consummate actor and blindingly handsome, as well. Rest in Avalon, Nick, until Britain (and the world) hath need of you once again.

i also forgot to mention, and this really annoys me to no end, that in the voice-over provided by john boorman on the dvd of excalibur, he *never* mentions nicholas, not even during his oh-so-wonderful closeups. i think boorman must have forgotten his name or something....

thanks for this wonderful fansite. i fell in love (well, as much as one can fall in love with an image of a person) with nc the first moment i saw him in excalibur wayyy back when it was released in theaters... i was a mere 14, but i remember it like it was yesterday. he truly had an enigmatic presence on the screen and i'm very sad that he's left us...
